לְקִיחָהf. (לָקַח) l) taking, seizing. Succ.37a (ref. to Lev. 23:40) בעינן ל׳ תמה a real taking in hand is required. Ib. ל׳ע״י דבר אחר an indirect taking (with gloved hand, by a string ). Ib. 11b יליף ל׳ ל׳וכ׳ he compares the expression לקח (in Ex. 12:22 a. Lev. l. c.); a. fr. 2) purchase, acquisition. Ex. R. s. 28, beg. (ref. to Ps. 68:19) בל׳ נתנה לו he gave the Law to him as an absolute acquisition.Esp. taking a wife, betrothal.
